RICHMOND, B.C. - A 53-year-old man faces firearms charges after a six year old boy was shot and injured in Richmond, B.C.

Charges against Richmond resident Fang Chi include criminal negligence causing bodily harm, pointing a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm.

The youngster was injured Tuesday afternoon in a shooting at a home in Richmond's Steveston neighbourhood.

Richmond RCMP Cpl. Sherrdean Turley says the boy, who was visiting from China, had surgery Wednesday for an abdomen injury and is expected to make a full recovery.

She also says Chi has never had any dealings with police and is extremely upset about the incident.

A release from Turley says the shooting demonstrates the danger of firearms and the need to treat them with respect.

一名53岁华裔男子因涉嫌在列治文周二(8月2号)向一名6岁男童开枪，周三被落案起诉，被控多项与枪械相关、以及刑事疏忽导致他人受伤等罪名。

   据报道，周二下午约1点左右，在列治文Whistler Court的10000号屋段，53岁池方(Fang Chi，音译)的华裔男子涉嫌向一名6岁男童开枪，导致该名儿童受伤送院。

   池方周三在法院出庭，被控多项同枪械相关、以及刑事疏忽导致他人受伤的罪名。

   据报道，6岁的男童来自中国，是被告的家庭朋友。该名男童中枪后送院,，手术后现时伤情稳定，应可完全康复。

   邻居指，案发前曾听到一声枪响及尖叫声，事后看到一名儿童被送上救护车。

   列治文骑警发言人Sherrdean Turley表示，被告非警方熟悉人物，并对事件感到后悔。

   他忠告民众，枪械是极其危险的物品，要小心保管，以免伤害他人。
