I haven't been up this route, but here's some details.
Directions from going up the chance creek roads to get to the tricouni basin (as related by a friend):
From where we parked, it was about 25 minutes of really nice (minimal bush) hiking to the big lake (a couple of really nice swimming tarns about 5 minutes before the lake - on the right).
To find the start of the trail to get to the lake....just stay on the logging road. It stops climbing and levels off while heading West (at around 4500 ft? maybe 5000?) All of a sudden the road gets really gnarly (where we parked) with old logs strewn everywhere. About 200m past that there is some flagging tape, and an obvious trail heading up the cutbank of the road. About 4 minutes of hiking later, you are in a forested marshy meadow where the trail disappears. Look left and you will see more flagging tape at the other end of the meadow. The trail from here is pretty easy to follow except for a few sections. It starts to get more and more faint as you get close to the lake.
