If you've been out and about recently you've probably seen the signs about
the current campfire ban.

Campfires (and open fires in general) are currently banned in much of BC.
Of interest to Lower Mainland hikers are the bans in the Coastal (with the
exception of the "fog zone") and the Kamloops Fire Zones:

Check out the BC Wildfire Service webpages for the latest information on
current fire bans:

WiLdfires are burning in or near two large provincial parks and should be
avoided:

* Cathedral - which is closed (and the lodge evacuated)
* Okanagan Mountain

BC Wildfire Service keeps an interactive map of current wildfires that is
always worth checking out:

In case anyone's thinking, "Oh it's OK, I can put out my fire if it gets a
little out of control", just watch this video and think again:

Wildfires put lives and livelihoods in danger. It's not worth the risk and
the chances are you really don't need one anyway.
