Re: 过瘾-近在眼前的贝克summit--Mt. Baker三人两天backpacking小记
收获:我们三人已商定好明年登顶Mt.baker的路线和base camp的位置, 准备用二天时间登顶
LuLu,
I strongly suggest u to hike 50% to 75% distance in one-day-hiking before u hike to the summit. Everie told me that one of their hiking partner had hiked to the Camp Muir several times before they did hike the summit of Mt Rainier. As matter of fact, Camp Muir is 10,188ft, Mt Baker is 10,778ft (+180m) and Mt Shuksan is 9,127ft (-323m). This is one of the reasons Camp Muir is the most popular hiking spot.
2nd suggestion is to know what equipment u must have for the summit, such as ropes besides crampons and ice axe.
Finally, I go with ur ambition next yr. I had one unsuccessful snow hiking at Mt Shasta (it is >14,000ft and I stopped at 12,000ft) and one successful one at Camp Muir. I enjoy hiking on snow very much. At least, it has one good reason to do so: I promise that hiking on snowing does NOT hurt ur knees. |
