Location: Located in the Valhalla Range, west of Slocan Lake, between the two major forks of "Ruby Creek", a tributary of Shannon Creek. (20 km NW of New Denver). (2 km SW of Big Sister Mountain).

Ruby Creek Lodge is a spacious new lodge in the heart of the Kootenays, and offers great ski touring in winter, and a variety of hiking destinations in summer. Hiking trails lead off from the lodge accessing beautiful alpine meadows and a variety of peaks you can scramble up. It is quite common to see goats, golden eagles. Numerous alpine lakes can be reached with a short hike. In winter, offers lots of ski touring objectives, accessing a large amount of terrain from the lodge, making for numerous interesting day trips.

Access: Guests meet the snowcat at the Bonanza Creek bridge at 11:00 AM. From there, the snowcat takes about 45 minutes to Ruby Creek. At the end of the week, guests usually ski out the relatively gentle road, and the snowcat carries their equipment.

Equipment: The lodge itself was built in 1998 to replace the previous popular cabin which was operated for the previous 21 years. The new Ruby Creek Lodge has 6 spacious bedrooms, 4 upstairs and 2 on the main floor. A large fully outfitted kitchen has storage capacity for a groups' food for a week. There is a propane cooking stove, a large wood heater and electric lighting.

The dining and lounging area are 500 square feet with timber framing and wood flooring throughout. Our lodge stereo system provides you with the option of hearing your favorite music to get you hyped to ski, or to help you relax and enjoy your holiday evenings. Guests can be accommodated comfortably in six private rooms, which are connected to the dining room, lounge, and kitchen. Our large sauna soothes tired muscles after skiing. The lodge has hot and cold running water and a septic system. There are 2 flush toilets and a hot shower. 120 volt power is being generated from the two creeks flowing past the lodge. A short walk will take you the radio telephone at the hutkeeper's cabin.

Costs: People are encouraged to book the lodge as a group. The lodge holds up to 14 people. Children under 16 are free. Eg: A group of 6 adults for 4 days in summer would be $1200.
