【活動】2010年五月到美國Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce

Our trip is around the corner, we should start to pack.
You are all experience hikers & should know what to bring with you. I'll make a check list for you next week.

Remember to bring camera, charger, battery, memory cards.
Most important - US dollars & Canadian dollars to reimburse Hop, Daisy & me.

Shuttle bus fare is US $80.00. Must be paid in cash.

還有兩星期便開始我們美國西部之旅, 既緊張又興奮, 是時候收拾行装, 準備行程了

以下是我模擬的行程, 請各同學給意見

五月十五日早上八時温哥華國際機塲集合

westjet WS1788, 10:35 起機, 1:09 到Las Vegas

機塲午餐, 取車, 直奔Zion,

可否有同學提供Vegas附近REI Costo 地址否則就在Springdale 購買食物及氣罐, 但價錢可能比較貴

五月十五日至十七日住宿Watchman Campground

十六日 Narrow, bottom up

我們沒有取permit, 最遠只能走到Big Springs, 由Temple of Sinawava至Big Springs 單程也需要五小時

十七日
為避去人潮, 乘早上七時的Shuttle Bus, 登Angels Landing, round trip 8.5K 約四小時,

如果體力及時間可以, 走observation point 8至12k, 或car touring

十八及十九晚住宿Bryce North Campground

早上離開Zion, 沿UT9西行, 到IT15北上, Exit40, 重回Zion 的另一面, Kolop Canyon, 溜溜他的Kolob Fingers Road

再沿IT15, Exit59 Cedar City, 午餐補充物品,

UT14東行接UT143走訪Cedar Breaks

UT89南下經Kanab, Fredonia,Jacobs lake 入 North Rim Grand Canyon,希望在下午二時左右到達, 全程262 miles, 約5.5 hour drive, 儘早安營紥塞,
黄昏時看看Bright angel Point, Drive Cape Royal, 在那裹野餐, 欣賞太陽伯伯如何把大峽谷染得五彩繽紛

廿一日 R2R 從北走到南

三時起床
四時卅分出發, North Kaibab trail 到 Bright Angel Campground 22K

在此兵分两路, 有四人可在此紥營, 其餘人等四時起步經Bright Angel trail到South Rim, 15K, 夜宿Maswik Lodge

廿二日
下午一時在Bright Angel Lodge 重會, 乘1:30pm shuttle 回北沿, 夜宿North Rim Campground

早上離開北沿, Jacobs Lake UT89A 東行41 miles 可看看Marble Canyon, 再接UT89. 下午一時前到Page

廿四日, 回Vegas
全程280mi, 車程五個多小時

途中景點甚多, 難以取捨, 之前我們找了Wire Pass, 景色很美, 雖然來回只得5.4K, 約需兩小時, 加上去trail head 來回車程, 也要四個多小時

但在Mt Carmel Junction 南下一點的Coral Pink Sand dume 也很漂亮, 也不太浪費車程, 雖說出爾反爾,  :oops:  :oops:  :oops: 我現今反而喜歡這個, 同學們意見如何

為了?想走回頭路, 把 Zion 的Mt Carmel Junction留待現在才走, 那是有名的景點, 一定會浪費時間在攝影上

今次行程是car camping為主及飛入美國, 建議膳食一切從簡, 可有更多時間休息及欣賞風景.

Car camping時可在營地煮早餐,晚餐, 也可以在公園內的餐廳吃
day hikes時午餐食干糧.

現把個人的食物清單列出與各同學分享:
Beverage -
Instant coffee
Chinese tea bag
Hot chocolate

Breakfast –
Oat meal
Instant noodles
Mashed potato
Real bacon bits
土豆粉是袋裝, 放入沸水內一煮即成, 可加入bacon bits. 可煮多點做午餐.

Lunch –
Power bar
Bread / Bagel
Peanut butter
Small canned food, such as ham....

Dinner -
Kraft Minute Rice
Mountain House package food
Dried vegetable
Sun dried tomato
Japanese instant seaweed (海帶)
Canned food

Snack –

North Rim的餐廳

•Grand Canyon Lodge Dining Room - Located on the rim. Open daily daily for breakfast (6:30am to 10am) lunch (11:30am to 2:30pm) dinner (4:45 to 9:45pm) Reservations are required for dinner - call (928) 638-2611.

•Grand Cookout Experience - a fun, nightly, cook-out style meal in a delightful setting 'under the stars', a short distance from the main lodge.

•Roughrider Saloon - Located in the Grand Canyon Lodge complex. Open 11:30am to 11pm daily. Open for gourmet coffee and pastries 5:30am to 10:30am daily.

•Deli in the Pines - Located in the Grand Canyon Lodge complex. Open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.

•Camper Store - Has groceries, camping supplies, clothing and gifts. Located adjacent to the campground. Open 7:00am to 7:00pm daily.

The dining room at Bryce Canyon Lodge is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A gift shop is available at the Lodge.
