Thanks, jerry, and I will contact you if I decide to go.[/quote]
Danny,
Since I used to live in LA for a number of yrs, I had been in Yosemite for many times (10?) and I know all details about there. There are two ways to hike the Half Dome, one-day and two-day. I had the one-day plan for 12 hrs. For the two-day plan, u need to be at the park office very early in the morning to get a permission to stay overnight at a camping site which is halfway.
The problem to hike there is camping space. Yosemite has very limited camping sites and all spaces are booked out at the 1st available days. Either u go there at wkd or there is only one 1st-come-1st-service camp site near the Glacier Pt. Need to confirm.
The best time to be there is May/June. Before May, it is kind of cold and the Half Dome cable might not be there. After July, it has less water from the falls. Remember, Yosemite is famous for its rocks, trees and water falls. Another famous hiking is to the summit of Yosemite Fall. |
