Candy Cane Lane - 11th Annual Christmas Lights Display

Ron, Annette, Brad and Tyler invite you to join them at their 11th Annual Christmas Lights Display. Enjoy more than 25 moving figures, numerous unique yard displays and more than 80,000 lights throughout the yard, garage and windows. While there, check out the calendar of events and watch for Santa to make his scheduled stop. Join them for hot chocolate or coffee donated by Save-On-Foods and Esquires Coffee House, respectively. Donations to the Langley Memorial Hospital and Basics for Babies program are gratefully accepted. To date, Candy Cane Lane has raised more than $40,000 for charity. Lights stay on from 6 pm to 10 pm until January 2nd.

They are now in their 4th year of lights, increasing by 1000-1500 lights per year. The O'Neil family writes: "We're back bringing more light to Burnaby ... better than ever this year. We are now in our 5th year of going all out to bring some Christmas color to the neighborhood. This year, we are adding a thousand more lights (over 10,000 now) to our display of reindeer, snowman, penguin, Santas, and other Christmas figures, as well as a new eight-foot Snowglobe and a light canopy over the wheelchair ramp. Starting December 1, we will usually have the lights turned on from 4:30 - 10:00 weekdays, and later on weekends. Our rustic front yard is always open for walkthroughs and picture-taking. These pictures are from last year; we will post newer ones fairly soon."

Blue and Teal Wonderland!

Blue and teal strands of icicle lights drip from the eaves of the rancher home. Nets of mini-bulbs with a similar neon hue cloak shrubs. The roof is lined with bigger teal bulbs, which also fence the front yard. Encased on the lawn are wire-framed Christmas trees topped with stars and four reindeer in a row, all fixed with more lights of "calming" colours.

In addition to once again converting the front of the house into a giant Santa Claus face and many trees decked out in a multitude of colourful lights, they have converted an 8-foot high Weeping Norway Spruce into Rudoph. Needless to say, not your normal reindeer. No purchased forms used. It is more a piece of "art," using lights as the medium. They were written up in The Record as a "must see" last year, so this year they got them up a little earlier. Haven't done a light count, but they estimate 3-4000. No charity--- it's just their Christmas gift to the neighbourhood. Actually, they tell us their whole strip of 7th Ave is pretty colourful. - Audrey & Steve Barnes

Lighting Display Benefits Fire Fighters' Burn Fund

Brad Keen's house and yard are glowing with nine thousand lights and over twenty displays … all in about 2600 feet of space. This is the 11th year of the display, and Keen says that all donations received this year go directly to the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund. The display is open from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily until January 4.
