我用一个和Camony一样的做水果干的干燥器，我们这次只和你们同行头两天，剩下的也都是car camping ，不用准备什么果干，同行的哪位需要可以来借。

I have never used it. Do we do the dry process before we take off from Vancouver or the night before we fly up to the top of Mt?

If we do at Vancouver, Camony, could you help me to dry something and I will pay u back?

If we do it before we fly up, 英子, could u bring it for me to the camping ground?

要把水果先切成薄片，然后风干。

要风干一晚上才能做出来一锅（4-6层），一锅也没多少，所以要提前几天才能做出来。

No problem.

I bought these two pieces, Jetboil Pot Support and Stabilizer. Now my small and light stove will fully function when we are on the top. I also bought five bottles of fuel for all of us. I think with Alex's stove, it would be sufficient for all 8 of us on the top.

下面的数据hiker会感觉比较舒服

For dayhiking：
不经常hiking的人：11km round-trip elevation 425m
一个季节经常hiking的人：18km round-trip elevation 950m

For backpacking:
刚开始hiking的人：两天18公里
hiking一段时间的人：两天27公里
狂热的hiker：两天38公里
对于3-4天backpacking：每天16公里

户外危险

1.壁虱(Ticks）引起发烧、咳嗽等
2.熊(bears)
3.美洲狮（cougar）
3.闪电(Lightning)
4.失温(Hypothermia)

户外伦理
1.let wild flowers live
2.give the critters a break
3.stay on the trail
4.roam meadows with your eyes, not your boots
5.leave no trace (never pitch tant on grass)
6.avoid building fires
7.be quiet at backcountry campgrounds
8.pack out everything you bring
9.poop without impact
10.keep streams and lakes pristine
11.respect the reverie of other hikers

户外有风险也有回报。

出行前始终要为下雨、下雪、黑天和受伤等意外情况做好准备。

hiking的原则如下

1.体能（身体素质）最重要，要不断锻炼自己的体能，循序渐进。
2.负重轻是backpacking的关键。只带必需品，不带奢侈品。
3.要带保暖衣服，羊毛和合成纤维好，不要带棉的。湿的衣服最易造
成失温。多层保暖效果好于一层厚衣服。
4.始终带着防雨衣服和防雨裤子，防风又防雨。
5.防水鞋，最好高帮保护踝关节。穿羊毛或纤维厚袜子，棉袜子吸
汗，易磨出水泡。最糟糕是棉袜子配不防水的鞋。
6.带手套和帽子，人体大部分热量是从头和四肢散失的，当感到冷
时，带上帽子和手套。
7.一对登山杖必备。8小时hiking传到登山杖的压力达250吨。避免膝
关节痛，保持躯干正直，肺呼吸不受压迫。有了登山杖，人就变
成了山羊等四肢动物。
8.一个队伍里必须有人带急救包。
9.准备头巾，遮阳又防蚊子。沾湿又能降温。
10.小东西：熟料袋、防蚊网、头灯、太阳镜和发人深省的问题问同
伴
11.保持所有东西干燥。包带防雨罩。湿了会很重。
12.经常喝水，不要等渴了再喝，否则身体就不在准备状态了。
水中有寄生虫，煮沸、或用过滤器，如果放药片，要等足够长时
间。
11.身体消耗能量。6小时hiking燃烧1800到3000卡路里。脂肪和蛋
白质需要3-4小时消化，碳水化合物需要1-2小时。所以，碳水化
合物对于hiking最好。早和中午少吃蛋白质，晚上多吃蛋白质利
于肌肉恢复。食物分配：60-65%能量来自碳水化合物，25%来
自脂肪，15%来自蛋白质。

八月六日週四，Lake Magog Campground to Porcupine Campground 扎營。One way 16km, hiking time 5 to 6 hrs。或在Howard Douglas campground扎營。 One way 23.5 km, hiking time 10 hrs.

I have just made a reservation to camp at Howard Douglas Campground on Aug 6. Therefore the hiking distance will be 23.5km.
Camp fee $9.80 per head + $11.70 reservation fee, total $90.10.

As per Daisy, Jasper is less commercialist than Banff which is not a bad thing. We didn’t try out any Chinese or other Asian foods in both towns. We have the best Chinese restaurants in Vancouver. So why bother!

Banff

Upper Hot Springs in Banff is NO Longer the real deal! Due to lack of spring waters they have decided to mix in with man-made (mineral waters) instead. Don’t let me stop you going there after a long hike though. It is still a nice treat to your body and mind. If time permits, do go to Miette Hot Springs in Jasper. It is about 61km one way. We were in the pool when snows falling! You can picture how nice it was!

Wanna take it easy in Banff? We hiked up to Sulphur Mount and rode the Gondola down. Use the Upper Hot Springs afterward since the trail head is next to each others.

Evelyn’s Coffee Bar services the best Latte in Banff. I think they have two locations on Banff Ave (main strip)

Old Spaghetti Factory inside Cascade Plaza has the best combo dinner deal in town if you ask me. $16 for salads and Pastas. We dined there twice!

We went to Melissa’s Restaurant (218 Lynx St) every morning for their Canadian style breakfast! Yummy!

** Most restaurants close around 9ish! **

Jasper

Bear’s Paw Bakery (4 Cedar Ave) has best latte but long line up!

We had breakfast in Coco’s Café (608 Patricia St.) small and cozy place.

Had dinner in a Greek restaurant but nothing to brag about!

防蚊罩我就不需要了，我想用头巾挡蚊子，我刚才去商店找了一圈头巾，没找到，wal mart有卖吗？很薄的那种，如果顺路方便（不需要顺路去找），帮我带一个。

头巾我觉得我们都得必备一个，当太阳和蚊子很有用。大一点的最好。
